Sunday, February 4

9:45 a.m.   Meditation; Upper Annex

10:00 a.m.  Forum; Lower Gage Hall

11:00 a.m.  Service; Sanctuary  “Evolution Sunday,”  Rev. Danny Reed  Dr. Robert T. Dillon, Jr. of the Freshwater Gastropods of North America Project, and Dr. Jason Vance of the College of Charleston Marine Biology Graduate Program will join us to explore evolution from the perspectives of Christianity and science, respectively. Dillon and Vance do not intend to debate, but rather offer a constructive and respectful dialogue, demonstrating that science and faith need not be adversarial perspectives. The service is our contribution to Darwin Week, February 5-12, coordinated through the College of Charleston School of Sciences and Mathematics.

We will also welcome Arm-in-Arm Chairman Peter Zalka for Stand-Up Sunday.  This Sunday we turn our hearts and minds to America’s ongoing tragedy of gun violence. Arm-in-Arm Chairman Peter Zalka will speak and you’ll be invited to sign and send the two letters to legislators that will be found in our church bulletin — one to your state senator and one to your state representative — urging them to vote NO on two dangerous bills they’re considering and to support universal background checks.

You’re also invited to stop by Arm-in-Arm’s table in Gage Hall after the service and sign two congregational petitions that will be sent to the legislators representing the voting district of our church’s 4 Archdale St. address.

You can help the cause greatly by finding the names and addresses of the two state legislators for your voting district at and writing them on two envelopes or presenting those two names at the Arm-in-Arm table to get sticky labels with their addresses on them. Thank you!
