A Green Sanctuary is a Congregation that…

–  Has received official recognition for completing the Green Sanctuary Program.

–  Lives out its commitment to the Earth by creating sustainable lifestyles for its members as individuals and as a faith community.

–  Is committed towards creating a religious community that has a fundamental, bottom-line commitment to living in harmony with the Earth.

The green sanctuary has completed projects include Gage Hall insulation, a solar digester in the courtyard for compost, recycling rollcarts, a bike rack behind Gage Hall, and fair trade coffee served at coffe hour.  In addition, the GS leads Earth Day services each April, sponsors green forums on topic of interest, picks up trash during beach sweeps, has developed green policies for the church, and twice organized an environmental film series with Circular Congregational Church.
