Next Intergenerational Choir practice is Wednesday, March 21st from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The group will sing at the beginning of the service on Sunday, March 25. Anyone is welcome to join us. No experience necessary.
March 11: Lots of special music by our members this week. The choir is excited to be singing a beautiful, challenging anthem: Earth Songs by Frank Tichelli. We’ll have a woodwind quartet and a small house band on the hymns plus Rick Stanton playing piano solo.
March 18th’s music will feature award winning harpist and Charleston native, Abigail Kent. She will play some of her favorites plus accompanying the choir for the anthem, “The Lake Isle of Innesfree”.
There is lots of info and a good photo of Abigail on her website. She is currently the American Harp Society’s Concert Artist of the year.
The choir is also busy preparing an excerpt from Vivaldi’s Magnificat for Easter Sunday plus soloist, Sophia Zimmerman will sing Sheep May Safely Graze, by JS Bach and a Handel aria. accompanied by a Baroque chamber ensemble

The Unitarian Church in Charleston supports an active and enthusiastic music program. Music is an important way for congregants to actively participate in our community and our worship services. Enhancing the services through music is a wonderfully satisfying endeavor. Instrumental music, anthems and hymn choices represent a wide range of musical styles and texts, reflecting the diverse nature of our congregation and Unitarian principles.
We have a number of ensembles and opportunities for music lovers to get involved including our Adult Choir, Intergenerational Choir , Special Music and Music Committee.
In addition to music on Sundays, the Church hosts two concert series: Candlelight Concerts in the Sanctuary and Coffeehouses in Gage Hall. Every spring, one of our youths are awarded the Martha Welch Scholarship to continue their music studies.
Our music program is headed up by Susan Conant, our Interim Music Director with the assistance of Amy Ball, pianist and organist. You may reach Susan at this address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
