JUST JOIN IN!

The Unitarian Church in Charleston supports an active and enthusiastic music program.  Each Sunday’s music is quite different and borrows from a wide range of musical style including Jazz, Contemporary, Pop, Classical, Folk Music, World Traditions, Celtic, Country and more.  Led by Music Director, Ryan Pagels, we select Instrumental music, anthems and hymn choices from a wide range of musical styles and texts in order to reflect the diverse nature of our congregation and Unitarian Universalist principles. Music during worship service is meant to connect the congregation, allow you to settle into deeper contemplation and for you to receive an emotional lift as we go out into the world with renewed vigor.

CONCERTS

The Unitarian Church in Charleston is a prominent leader on the Charleston musical scene.  We host the Candlelight and Coffeehouse concert series; two well-loved rosters. More information about upcoming concerts can be found on our events calendar.  Also, check our Facebook page for upcoming events.

WE ARE A COMMUNITY OF MUSIC MAKERS

Music is a great way to actively participate in our community and worship services and a wonderfully satisfying endeavor. There are many ways to just join in!  For those who love to sing, we have a variety of choral and solo opportunities. If you play an instrument, we assemble players of all levels, ages and instruments to form itinerant bands throughout the year.

“The diverse music program of this church has done much to enrich my life.  We’ve had wonderful musicians who have provided inspiring, uplifting, sometimes toe-tapping music. The opportunity to sing in the choir has challenged me and been therapeutic.  Being able to sing and listen to music has soothed what I call the “impotent rage” that I often feel after listening to the news of the day. For me, right after our wonderful members, our music program is the best thing about our church.”  -  Diane Boyer, Member
