Social Justice is a core practice for many Unitarian Universalists. Our faith is “this-worldly,” meaning that we live our values right here, right now.  Given the theological diversity of our congregation, our social views are also varied.  We are not bound by a political affiliation but instead by a shared desire to do good in the world.  Our Social Justice Committee seeks to bring our congregants together to address issues including children in need, those living in poverty, LGBTQ issues, refugee assistance, racial justice, global warming threats and other issues regarding our local and global communities.

Among our many involvements, we have a strong commitment to the Charleston Area Justice Ministry, a growing network of Faith Based Congregations who are culturally, economically, geographically and religiously diverse.
We come together to make the Charleston area a more just place to live.

“We live our Unitarian Universalist Social Justice values when we engage our congregation to serve as trusted and visible leaders, partners and advocates for the creation of a just world and a sustainable environment; we embrace spiritual responsibility for a moral tomorrow.” - Diane Narkunas, Member
